DEAR SOCIETY

What is the true definition of beauty? who defines beauty? and most importantly what is not considered as beauty and why? These are quite a few questions that i would like to socially address. Over the years and also in today's society, i have noticed how beauty have been categorized and defined as "light skin", "straight hair", "long hair", "slim" and the list could go on but when was the true definition of beauty altered specifically to include body features? The one thing Google cannot define is a person's beauty and its so sad that even today men are using ethnicity along with the body features of mostly lighter colour females to define the true beauty of all women. We were all made differently because we are all beautiful in our own ways and the fact that you men who are of the same skin colour as us women who you deprive the title of "beauty" because of the shade of our skin is beyond sad and degrading. Men who do this are the real problems of society and the real oppressors. Beauty should not be centered around "looks" because there are so many other characteristics of a woman that defines her beauty and let me just say this, my beauty does not depend on your perspective of beauty but your opinions do matter to most women and that is why this needs to be addressed and STOPPED! If our own men wont embrace our diverse beauty then who will?

i do not own rights to this video.

  1. It’s obvious that this young has been captivated by the slaves of ignorance. It’s unfair to us as female that we have to be dress the part to fit in and we are to be blamed. We bash our fellow females if they are not wearing certain things and we also dress in that particular way so these men when they see a black skin girl with natural short kinky hair they see you as unkept...
Congratulations to our own #Davina Bennett# who represented for us in 2017 and also Miss South Africa who was crown Miss Universe. I am sure Davina pave that way and we ladies need to do the same and run weh men like these who are discriminating our fellow females.

  2. You're right. Who and what defines beauty issa question we all think to address. You have a very much valid point, likewise that man also has a point;beauty is subjective, an opinion.

  3. Though it should not be like this Beauty is defined by society and we all slave to society, i agree that a person's beauty should not be define by their looks are any physical features.

  4. When it comes to societal norms and what's accepted, things get a little tricky.

I'm going to first say that many of the words thrown around these days are pretty much empty shells. Persons don't know what words once meant and they use them as they see fit. Unfortunately, we assign "beautiful" when persons actually meant to say hott or sexy or cute. Those feelings we feel when we assign beautiful to persons are heavily biased and based on personal attractions and the like.

As rightly said, there are many characteristics of beauty and I'll add that those are all dependent on the individual. Who you are... That's where the beauty lies. That beauty then can translate to the things we do, the things we says, the way we carry ourselves and the way we dress. For that reason, I'll make this claim, 'Beauty is perceived, however, it's in the individual's power to determine what is received by persons." So it's true when they say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder as beauty is perceived.

So... We can all be beautiful and in many different ways. However, society is nasty and it wants what it wants and for it... Beauty must meet a standard. To change that... We must change how persons look at themselves. When we stop comparing ourselves to others and to the standard of society, society will no longer have any power to define what is beauty.
